Independent free press groups will convene at the Jamestown Civic Center on March 23 to explore working relationships. Individuals and groups are working together to expand the ND Free Press Movement and want to bring community members together to create a working vision to create an effective avenue for independent news in ND and the region. We are seeking people who may be interested in participating in the convention. We are looking for people who want to engage in any capacity; whether financial supporters, writers, editors, etc. This will be community news for the community BY the community.
We know many of you have been frustrated time and time again with the news coverage in this area and have longed for more fair, impartial, and independent news media.
The Independent News Convention will take place on Saturday, March 23 from 11:00 Am to 5:00 PM at the Jamestown Civic Center located at 212 Third Ave NE, in downtown Jamestown, just off main street, north of the railroad tracks. (The convention is in the Exchequer room which is accessed on the north end of the civic center. Go through the door to the first hallway and the room is just off to the west or left hand side).
There is a registration fee to cover the costs of the convention, lunch, refreshments and written material that will be shared at the convention. The fees can be paid in advance or at the door of the convention.
$20 registration fee for individuals, $10 registration fee for High School and college Students, $30 registration fee for a couple. The PPP is offering hardship scholarships for those who cannot pay the registration fee. Contact PPP through duke@fmppp to request one of the limited scholarships.

We’re looking for people who want to engage in changing the media landscape in ND in any capacity; whether financial supporters, writers, media experts, students, copy editors, ads salesmen, copywriters, concerned citizens who want a voice in shaping news information in the state, etc. NDFreePress will be community news FOR the community and BY the community.
