MANDAN, N.D. – Former North Dakota Attorney General and U.S. Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp set the record straight this morning at a press conference at the Attorney General’s office and released a letter from the campaign asking North Dakota’s TV stations to stop airing an ad from Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS that lies about her record and smears her record of fighting the war on drugs.

The new $167,000 ad began airing Wednesday. To date, Rove and his millionaire donors have already committed to spending $1.2 million on false attack ads in North Dakota to support Rick Berg.

“Karl Rove and his millionaire donors are lying about my record and trying to distract voters from Rep. Berg’s record to cut taxes for millionaires like himself when he is the 14th richest member of the U.S. House,” said Heitkamp. “This ad is false, and the voters of North Dakota deserve better than lies from millionaires who are supporting Rep. Berg so they can get more deficit-busting tax cuts.”
