Ready, Set, Fargo Marathon 2014

Once again it is time for the Fargo Marathon. On this, the 10th Anniversary of the Fargo Marathon tradition there will be over 20,000 participants participating in the 5K, 10K, the relay races, the half marathon and the full marathon.

The Fargo Marathon has grown over the past decade into a massive event attracting people from all over the region, the country, and even from around the world. People from around the valley have been training hard for this great event and now they have the challenge themselves.

This year’s marathon will take place May 8th to the 10th and will take a similar route to the 2005 marathon starting on the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge and ending at the well known Fargo icon, the Fargo Theatre.

MAT Transit will offer fare free bus service on Saturday, May 10 throughout their system in recognition of the Marathon.  Race participants have been assigned a specific villages. Each village has a designated parking area. See – http://www.fargomarathon.com/TRAFFIC.htm

Thursday, May 8

Noon – Fargo Marathon Expo Opens at the Fargo Civic.

7:00 PM – YOUTH RUN – This is an out and back route from the Fargo Civic along 1st Avenue North to near the Moorhead Center Mall.  Streets affected will be 4th Street near the Civic and 1st Avenue North from the Forum Building into Moorhead. 9:00 PM – Fargo Marathon Expo Closes at the Civic.

 

Friday, May 9

10:00 AM – Fargo Marathon Expo Opens at the Fargo Civic.

2:00 PM – Closing of 3rd Avenue North between Broadway and 5th Street Closed for Marathon Medical Area.

3:00 PM – Parking signs will be be installed restricting parking along the race route including Broadway and in the US Bank Plaza Parking Lot. The no parking restriction will go into effect after 11 PM.

7:00 PM – 5K RUN – This route starts near the Fargo Civic going east along 1 Avenue North into Moorhead, back west on the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge, to 2nd Street South to 4th Street South to 5th Avenue South down 7th Street South and up 8th Street South finishing in Island Park. 8:00 PM – Fargo Marathon Expos closes at the Civic.

 

Saturday, May 10

4:00 AM – Closing of Broadway between 2nd Avenue North and 4th Avenue North.

4:00 AM – Closing of Veteran’s Memorial Bridge.

5:00 AM – Fargo Marathon Athlete Villages Open.

9:00 AM – Veteran’s Memorial Bridge Reopened.

3:00 PM – All races closed.

6:00 PM – Post Race Concert on Broadway between 2nd Avenue North and 4th Avenue North. Concert concludes at 10:45 PM.

 

Sunday, May 11

1:00 AM – Broadway between 2nd Avenue North and 4th Avenue North reopened
